Is Georgia is a third world country? Georgia's women (in the US, not Soviet Georgia) are among the unhealthiest in the nation: uneducated, uninsured, more likely to have preventable diseases and more likely to die at younger ages. Our babies are more likely to be premature or die from preventable causes than almost any other industrialized nation.

An open invitation to Senator Reid
A voice mail left at the clinic today says: 'I saw your brochure at the library & the part about how expensive health care is, I 'm going to stop my blood pressure medicine because I can't afford to go to the doctor.' Then I got home and read the news that--Senator Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters that "there 'is no rush' on health reform." Senator Reid has obviously never experienced untreated high blood pressure, or worried if he had cancer or not because he could not afford a biopsy, or tried to take care of patients that can only afford one week of medicine out of each month. Perhaps Senator Reid should read Ringstaff.blogspot.com. So I am extending an open invitation to Senator Reid: Please come to Rome, Georgia and tell that our women who can't even afford to see their doctor about their blood pressure (and the Free Clinic is backed up 3 months) that there is 'no rush!' http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE60E43D20100127
